Weekend Getaway Ideas?

This summer, since I won't be nursing or pregnant for the first time in a while, Rob and I want to escape for a weekend while my mom watches our kids. I know there are good getaway places just a few hours drive or ferry ride from here, but I have no idea what they are. Do you have any suggestions? Details would be good - how to get there, where to stay, etc. Obviously, money is an issue.

One more thing - ask me every once in a while how the planning is going! Otherwise, I'm afraid we won't actually do it! ;)

May I suggest Victoria, Canadia. We went last year and it was wonderful! Will post more details later as I should really be packing right now.

I'm glad you asked this question because we've been trying to plan something too (except we don't have a grandma close by so Eve will be coming too). I thought of Victoria but would it still be fun in the winter?

We went to Victoria in December several years ago and it was a lot of fun still. There is lots to do and it is just a fun little town. The summer would be fun to go also--albeit more expensive. We rode the Victoria Clipper, stayed in the Empress (the most awesome hotel ever) and went to Buchart Gardens. We were only there overnight (leave in the morning come home in the evening the next day) but it was great and we want to do it again. It is a definite must do while in Seattle. You can also drive there, but the clipper was a lot of fun.

Dang, I grew up in Cashmere girl! I have been there tooooo many times. Let me tell you, their high school is horrible. Oh, but you probably want to know about it as a tourist spot huh? It's fun. There is really only one GREAT place to stay there though, the Enzian. They have the YUMMIEST italian restauant there too, Viscontis. And since it's only a stone's throw from Cashmere, you can go there and tour Aplets and Cotlets (for free). The high school there is much better too. Call me if you'd like more advice about this place. I could point you in a few directions. Maybe I'll do a post about the area in the next week!
